General Rental Information

The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 4 years.

Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license.

Please show a valid DL & ID card or passport at time of pick up.

 

Changing booking

A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of Ksh. 3,000/=. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

 

Cancellation Policy

FREE CANCELLATION of your booking up to 7 days after your reservations has been confirmed, if your rental starts in less than 7 days you can cancel for free up to 48 hours before the rental starts. After this period the below cancellation policy will apply.

MyHire & Rentals will NOT charge you for the full rental amount at the time of reservation. We ONLY charge you a 50% of the vehicles’s daily fee to ensure your vehicle is reserved.  All cancellations must be made by e-mail to info@myhire.co.ke. We must receive a cancellation notice a minimum of 24hrs before vehicle collection. There will be a small administration fee which in some cases may be as much as the original rental fees. No refund will be given for ‘No shows’, early returns or voluntary down-grades of booked vehicles.

All cancellations should be made on our online portal or via email e-mail to info@myhire.co.ke and not with the car hire agent. Should you agree to cancel directly with the car hire agent on arrival, you must also inform us of this change to your booking. – Amending your booking or cancelling optional extras may not be possible less than 48 hours before pick up. What is a no-show? A no-show occurs for the following reasons:

  1. You didn’t inform us about your cancellation prior to your pick up date.
  2. You failed to pick up the car at the arranged time and date.
  3. You failed to provide the required documents

 

CANCELLATION CHARGES

For all cancelled reservations OUTSIDE the FREE CANCELLATION PERIOD with a deposit of US$ 30 or less, there will be no refund.
More than 28 days 25% of the daily rate
Between 48 hours & 28 days 50% of the daily rate
48 hours or less 100% of the daily rate

 

No-Show

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

 

Age Restrictions

  • Minimum age in Kenya is 24.
  • Maximum age in Kenya is 70.

 

Conditions of Payment

Mobile Money & Bank Payment

All Kenyan Mobile Payment modes including MPESA, Airtel Money, YuCash and Bank Deposits are accepted.

 

Credit Cards

The following credit cards are accepted: American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa.

The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection ofthe vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.

By booking of a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed such as, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus value added tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.

 

Generally

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

 

General Protection Conditions

Third Party Insurance (TI)

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of Ksh. 1,000,000.00 for personal injuries and material damages.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver’s license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

 

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

All rates are inclusive of LDW.

 

Tyre and Windscreen Coverage (GT)

Tyre and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.

If Windscreen Coverage is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and back window.

Out of Opening Hours

One-Way Rentals

National

For One-Way-Rentals from Nairobi to Mombasa (and vice versa) a charge of Ksh. 20,000.00 applies.

 

International

International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.

 

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

The vehicle cannot be taken to Maasai Mara.

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda.

A written permission issued by the MyHire branch is mandatory to cross the border to Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

Regarding entry to other COMESA member state countries, please contact the local station.

For the written permission a charge of Ksh. 20,000.00 applies. Please allow 5 working days to process.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

Outside Kenya recovery, breakdown and accident assistance are very limited or not available. Any charges incurred are on the renters account.

 

Premium Location Fee

A Premium Location Surcharge of 10% on the non-reduced total rental amount per rental is charged at locations of special interest. Those are airports and some city locations

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

 

Driver Service

By choosing the driver service a MyHire driver will be supplied for 10 consecutive hours per day between 8 am and 6 pm. Additional hours and services outside business hours are available at the local branch. The customer remains liable for the condition of the vehicle except when the vehicle is physically moved by the MyHire driver.

Driver services are available within respective city limits and any trip outside the city limits will need to be coordinated with the MyHire location in advance. Additional charges for leaving the city limits may arise and will be charged extra locally. Please contact the local branch for more information.

 

Additional Driver

An Additional Driver Surcharge of Ksh. 1,500.00 per day applies.

 

Refueling Charge

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel on request and should be refilled prior to return to MyHire, otherwise our current refueling charges will apply.

 

Vehicle Cleaning

In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a charge of Ksh. 5,000/= will apply.

 

VAT

All rates are exclusive of tax/VAT (if incurred).
For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.
